Ho provato tutti i tipi di superstizione, niente funziona sempre! Detto questo, mi piace molto il numero 13, e per la band è sicuramente un numero fortunato
E il tuo rapporto con la fede? In “Speed Of Darkness” c’è una traccia chiamata “God Prays To Man”…
Il mio rapporto con la fede è messo a nudo e visibile a tutti nei testi, credo nel credere. Se c’è un dio o un universo o solo una specie di coscienza superiore comune, non lo so davvero, ma ognuno ha la sua fede…
Ci sono testi passati in cui non ti riconosci oggi e che forse preferiresti non cantare?
A volte mi ritrovo a dubitare dei giovani che hanno scritto i testi 20-30 o persino 40 anni fa, ma ancora di più mi meraviglio della loro genialità divertente e della loro semplicità intelligente…
Siamo sempre stati abituati a pensare in termini di velocità della luce, cosa rappresenta invece la velocità dell’oscurità?
In questo momento, il mondo sembra inghiottito dall’oscurità della guerra, e non sembra fermarsi… è l’oscurità, e si sta insinuando ovunque, è anche un gioco di parole intelligente sul diventare vecchi, non che ne sappiamo nulla…
Penso che “Speed Of Darkness” sia uno dei vostri migliori album, energico e melodico, soprattutto fresco e coinvolgente. Come sono nate le canzoni?
Lavoriamo molto di più al momento in sala prove, il che significa che tutti contribuiscono e tutti hanno voce in capitolo, quindi più lavoriamo, più ognuno di noi è coinvolto nelle canzoni, quando tutti sono felici, diventa una canzone DAD pronta.
Lavorare con la stessa formazione per anni è un vantaggio o può esserci una stagnazione di idee?
Sicuramente stagnazione, ma il più delle volte siamo più veloci a superare le difficoltà e più focalizzati su qualche idea originale, ma la fiducia reciproca è ciò che ci rende i DAD, ed è bello sentire la continuità…
Quali canzoni dell’album proporrete dal vivo?
Abbiamo già suonato “The Ghost”, “1st2nd&3rd”, “Speed of Darkness” e “Keep that Mother Down”, “God Prays” è quasi pronta e speriamo un altro paio.
A proposito di live, ci sono spettacoli in programma?
Oh un sacco , il più vicino a te sarà Milano il 25 novembre credo.
Dovremo aspettare altri cinque anni per un nuovo album o ora che il blocco creativo è passato possiamo sperar in un tempi più breve?

Hi Jesper, you’re superstitious, because this is album number 13 for your D-A-D…
I’ve tried all kinds of superstitions, nothing works all the time! That said, I really like the number 13, and for the band It’s for sure a lucky number
And your relationship with faith? On “Speed Of Darkness” there’s a track called “God Prays To Man”…
My relationship with faith is laid bare and for all to see in the lyrics, I believe in believing. If there’s a god or a universe or just some kind of common higher consciousness.. I really don’t know, but that’s faith for you…
Are there any past lyrics that you don’t recognize yourself in today and that maybe you’d prefer not to sing?
Sometimes I find myself doubting the young men who wrote the lyrics 20-30 even 40 years ago, but even more I marvel at their funny genious’ses and clever simpleness…
We’ve always been used to thinking in terms of the speed of light, what does the speed of darkness represent instead?
Right now, the world feels engulfed in the darkness of war, and don’t seem to stop. That’s darkness, and it’s creeping up and in all over, it’s also a clever pun on becoming old, not that we know anything about that…
I think “Speed Of Darkness” is one of your best albums, energetic and melodic, above all fresh and engaging. How were the songs born?
We work most at the time, in the rehearsal space, which means that everybody contributes and everyone get a say. So the longer we work the more each of us in the songs, when everybody waits for everybody to be happy, it becomes a DAD song that just takes off.
Is working with the same line-up for years an advantage or can there be a stagnation of ideas?Definitely stagnation but most of the time we’re quicker over the bullshit and straighter to some original idea, but the confidence in each other is what makes DAD, and it’s good to feel the continuety…
Which songs from the album will you propose live?
We’ve already played “The Ghost”, “1st2nd&3rd”, “Speed of Darkness” and “Keep that Mother Down”, “God Prays” is almost ready and a couple of more we hope.
Speaking of live, are there any shows planned?
Oh, a, lot, the closest to you will be Milan the 25 of November I think-
Will we have to wait another five years for a new album or now that the block has passed can we hope for a shorter time?
Music is being made all the time – by DAD!!!
