“In Her Hands Fever & Frost” è il nuovo album del progetto Akhtya, la creatura occulta nata dalla mente di Michael W. Ford (Black Funeral). 54 minuti di musica rituale diabolica e oscura dedicata all’essenza della dea babilonese Lamaštu, con la partecipazione della strega italiana Sara Ballini.

Benvenuti Sara e Michael, prima di addentrarci nei meandri più oscuri di “In Her Hands Fever & Frost”, il nuovo album del progetto Akhtya, mi piacerebbe sapere: come è iniziata la vostra collaborazione?
(Michael) Sara è il mio editore italiano che da diversi anni traduce e amplia la tradizione luciferina attraverso le mie pubblicazioni. Sara è anche una rispettata strega luciferina che sono felice di considerare una vera amica. Stavo lavorando a diverse composizioni musicali di Akhtya e ho pensato che avrebbe potuto catturare la voce posseduta di Lamastu (e Lilith) in “In Her Hands Fever & Frost”. Stiamo anche finendo un nuovo album dedicato a Lilith e altre entità. Anche la registrazione di Akhtya è in corso.
(Sara) Da ragazzina ascoltavo la musica black metal e tra le varie band ascoltavo anche i Black Funeral?! Chi avrebbe mai potuto pensare che con la mia voce avrei partecipato ad uno dei progetti di Michael W. Ford, che avrei tradotto i suoi libri, che avrei fatto parte del suo ordine? A così tanti chilometri di distanza, dall’altra parte dell’Oceano? A volte la vita riserva delle sorprese che se fossero rivelate in anticipo non ci crederesti mai!

“In Her Hands Fever & Frost” è dedicato alla dea mesopotamica Lamaštu, potreste introdurmi al mito di questa divinità?
(Michael) Lamastu è essenzialmente l’origine mesopotamica primaria della dea demoniaca riconosciuta come Lilith, gli aspetti divinizzati e decaduti della dea che è ben nota nelle tradizioni ebraiche, siriane, turche, babilonesi, neo-assire e greche. Il tutto non è privo di confusione, quindi mi concentrerò direttamente sull’aspetto della dea decaduta Lamastu. Citerò il mio testo a partire dalle note di copertina:

La sua storia è antica, nei testi sumeri del 3° millennio a.C., uno spirito femminile di nome Dimme era incluso come appartenente a un gruppo di sette demoni associati. Nei testi sumeri e bilingue del secolo successivo, divenne la principale potenza divinizzata di una triade con altri due demoni i cui nomi sumeri condividevano l’elemento dimme, stringendo un’alleanza con le origini primordiali di Lilith. Nelle versioni accadiche di questi testi e incantesimi, Lamaštu era identificata insieme a due demoni simili, Labāṣu e Ahhāzu. Altri demoni Dimme sono conosciuti come Labāṣu, Ahhazu, Bibitu e Lilitu. Nel 2° millennio, Lamaštu è stata identificata con tratti e una individualità ben definiti. Uno dei più antichi incantesimi conosciuti che la riguardano, è il fatto di essere riconosciuta come una mal generata figlia della divinità principale del pantheon babilonese, Anum, quindi, essendo di discendenza divina, fu scacciata dal cielo e fatta precipitare giù sulla terra, forse una punizione per le sue azioni ribelli, oppure potenzialmente come uno stratagemma divino per controllare in futura la sovrappopolazione degli esseri umani. L’obiettivo di Lamaštu sulla terra era quello di strappare e mangiare i bambini appena nati, assumendo la forma di un medico o di un’ostetrica, anche con la forza bruta, attaccando le sue vittime prescelte in modo simile a un lupo o a un leone. Lamaštu vanta molte predazioni sanguinarie e crudeli sull’umanità, che colpirono non solo i bambini. Lamaštu era un pericolo per i bambini e anche per le loro madri incinte prima e durante il parto. La sua aura nera e distruttiva e il suo spirito ardente presero di mira anche uomini adulti, anziani e giovani di varie età. Lamaštu divenne la presunta causa o agente che causava una o più malattie indefinibili, per non parlare della totalità della SIDS e della mortalità infantile che era raggruppata nella sua categoria di atti.

(Sara) Conoscere il vampirismo ha cambiato la mia vita in meglio perché mi ha permesso di accettare la mia naturale tendenza ad avvicinarmi alla vita e alle relazioni e soprattutto di imparare a gestirlo ed evitare così che potesse degenerare producendo effetti distruttivi sulla mia vita e soprattutto sui miei rapporti interpersonali e, nel 2021, lavorare con Lamashtu è stato il passo successivo per scoprire il femminile che è in me. Gli aspetti luciferini di questa Dea sono innumerevoli (in primis la sua espulsione dai Cieli, simile a quella dello stesso Lucifero) e in alcuni individui rappresenta una forza atavica legata all’istinto di sopravvivenza, alla strategia per superare gli ostacoli e ottenere risultati inerenti agli obiettivi fissati per la propria vita come il potere e il dominio. dominio. Lamashtu è un consumatore di energia, con cui non ho tardato ad identificarmi accettando le stesse leggi della natura di cui facciamo parte che ci impegna in una continua lotta per l’autoconservazione, in competizione con gli altri individui. Ho costantemente e consapevolmente (e consensualmente) utilizzato l’energia degli altri per raggiungere i miei obiettivi secondo la mia etica personale, sottoponendola a un processo alchemico per purificarla e renderla utile a fini costruttivi attraverso la proiezione astrale, la stregoneria, specifiche tecniche di meditazione, eccetera… Se si considera l’esilio babilonese degli ebrei è ragionevole pensare che possano aver rielaborato varie divinità e Demoni sumeri/accadici. In questo mondo Lilītu, Ardat Lilî e Lamashtu si sincronizzano con l’ebraico “Lilith”. È interessante notare che questi demoni non si trovano solo tra gli ebrei. Ci sono tracce di questi demoni in molte culture del Vicino Oriente, ed è anche possibile trovare alcuni esempi nello zoroastrismo. Lilith attacca gli ebrei in esilio, il loro presente, il loro futuro, le loro famiglie e la loro sopravvivenza. Forse era più un pericolo, considerando che i loro figli stavano crescendo in un contesto urbano multiculturale. Nella prospettiva luciferina, Lamastu rappresenta il predatore che prosciuga la vita che assume la forma dello spirito del vento, mostrandosi con la testa di leone o di leopardo, inseguendo nell’oscurità la preda alata come Pazuzu o altri piccoli demoni, che tutti possiedono le chiavi per sviluppare il nostro corpo d’ombra, un elemento essenziale per la proiezione astrale usata nella Magia Vampirica: affascinante, pieno di potere e innegabilmente non privo di pericoli nascosti…

Come è possibile creare un connubio magico tra note e antichi miti?
(Michael) Non è difficile perché ho affinato per anni le abilità richieste per questo tipo di magia nera. Il suono con frequenze specifiche insieme a onde simboliche del suono creano porte mentali tramite l’immaginazione, quindi è una forma di magia.

Questo lavoro è pubblicato su CD; possiamo considerarlo un album classico o il CD è uno strumento utile per diffondere il tuo rituale?
(Michael) Digitale, CD e LP alla fine credo che questi siano ottimi strumenti.

Non avete paura che l’ascoltatore occasionale possa avvicinarsi a “In Her Hands Fever & Frost” in modo superficiale, mettendone in secondo piano l’aspetto filosofico-religioso, se non ignorarlo del tutto?
(Michael) Non mi importa se un ascoltatore occasionale ascolta e si gode l’oscurità della musica. Non mi aspetto che molti capiscano la dedizione ritualistica che mettiamo nei nostri lavori, quindi mi auguro solo che si divertano e che possa portare incubi!

Secondo voi qual è la condizione migliore per poter approcciare “In Her Hands Fever & Frost” nel modo più appropriato?
(Michael) Uno studio del mio libro “Sebitti” è un buon inizio, Magia e Demonologia babilonesi. Quindi, se si cerca lo spirito antico e maligno di Lamastu, può essere richiamato in sogno.

Proporrete il CD anche nelle esibizioni dal vivo?
(Michael) Forse alcuni rituali dal vivo in futuro…
(Sara) Mi piacerebbe davvero. Durante il viaggio in Italia abbiamo ipotizzato un live coi Mortuary Drape, a cui aggiungerei chissà i Necromass e qualche altra band con cui si potrebbe davvero creare un Occult Fest. Sarebbe fantastico!

Michael, recentemente hai pubblicato un libro, “Hecate & The Black Arts: Liber Necromantia”, potresti parlarmene?
(Michael) “Hecate & the Black Arts” è un grimorio dedicato a Ecate e agli Dei, Dee e Demoni degli Inferi, o Ade. Questo è stato un lavoro in corso per alcuni anni e ho lavorato con Hecate dalla fine degli anni ’90. Questo grimorio è il coronamento della mia esperienza con questa specifica gnosi.

Micheal, ho notato sui tuoi social alcune foto scattate recentemente in Italia, in particolare a Bomarzo, ti è piaciuto il Bosco Sacro? E in generale, qual è il tuo rapporto con il mio Paese?
(Michael) L’Italia è un posto bellissimo, magico, meraviglioso – un giorno nel prossimo futuro spero di viverci almeno una parte dell’anno.

Welcome Sara and Michael, before delving into the darkest meanders of “In Her Hands Fever & Frost”, the new album of the Akhtya project, I would like to know, how did your collaboration start?
(Michael) Sara is my Italian publisher who has translated and expanded the Luciferian tradition via my publications for several years now. Sara is also a respected Luciferian Witch who I am happy to call a true friend. I was working on several Akhtya musical compositions and I thought she should capture the possessed voice of Lamastu (and Lilith) with “In Her Hands Fever & Frost”. We are also finishing up a new album dedicated to Lilith and some others. Akhtya recording works in process as well. 
(Sara) When I was a little girl I listened to Black Metal with pleasure and among the various bands there were also Black Funeral?! Who could have ever imagined that I would participate with my voice in one of Michael W. Ford’s projects, that I would translate his books, that I would be part of his order? So many miles away, on the other side of the ocean? Sometimes life holds surprises that you would never believe if they were revealed in advance!

“In Her Hands Fever & Frost” is dedicated to the Mesopotamian goddess Lamaštu, could you introduce me to the myth of this divinity?
(Michael) Lamastu is essentially the primary Mesopotamian origin of the demonic goddess so recognized as Lilith, the deified and fallen aspects of the goddess which is known well in Hebrew, Syrian, Turkish, Babylonian, Neo-Assyrian, and Greek lore. It is a bit confusing so I will focus directly on the aspect of the fallen goddess Lamastu.  I will quote my text from the liner notes:

“Her history is ancient, in Sumerian texts from the 3rd millennium b.c.e, a female spirit named Dimme was included as one of a group of seven associated demons. In Sumerian and bilingual texts of a later date, she became the leading deified power in a triad with two other demons whose Sumerian names shared the element dimme, drawing alliance with Lilith’s primal origins. In the Akkadian versions of these texts and incantations, Lamaštu, which was identified along with two similar demons, Labāṣu and Ahhāzu. Other Dimme demons are known as Labāṣu, Ahhazu, Bibitu, and Lilitu. In the 2nd millennium, Lamaštu was identified with traits and a defined individuality. One of the oldest known spells against her, she is recognized as a misbegotten daughter of the chief deity of the Babylonian pantheon, Anum, being of divine ancestry, she was thrown out of heaven and down to earth. This was perhaps a punishment for her rebellious actions, or even potentially as a divine stratagem to control overpopulation of humans in the future.
Lamaštu’s focus on earth was to snatch and eat the newly born babies, so accomplished by assuming the form of a physician or midwife, also by brute force, attacking her chosen victims in a similar way to a wolf or lion. Lamaštu has many bloodthirsty and cruel predations upon humanity, going beyond the young.
Lamaštu was a danger to babies and, also, their pregnant mothers before and during birth.  Her blackened, destructive aura and scorching spirit also targets adult men, the elderly, and youth of various ages. Lamaštu became the supposed cause or agent bringing about one or more definable diseases, not to mention the totality of SIDS and infant mortality was grouped under her category of acts.

(Sara) Getting to know vampirism changed my life for the better because it allowed me to accept my natural tendency to approach life and relationships and above all to learn to manage it and in this way to avoid that it could degenerate producing destructive effects on my life and above all on my interpersonal relationships and, in 2021, working with Lamashtu was the next step in discovering the feminine that is in me. The Luciferian aspects of this Goddess are innumerable (first of all, her expulsion from the Heavens, similar to that of Lucifer himself) and in someindividuals she represents an atavistic force linked to the survival instinct, to the strategy to overcome obstacles and obtain results. inherent in the goals set for one’s life such as power and domination. Lamashtu is a consumer of energy, with which I have not been long in identifying myself by accepting the very laws of nature of which we are part that inserts us into a continuous struggle for self-conservation, in competition with other individuals. I have constantly and consciously (and consensually) used the energy of others to achieve my goals according to my personal ethics, subjecting it to an alchemical process to purify it and make it useful for constructive purposes through astral projection, witchcraft, specific meditation techniques, etc …
If we consider the Babylonian exile of the Jews it is reasonable to think that they may have reworked various Sumerian / Akkadian deities and Demons.In this world Lilītu, Ardat Lilî, and Lamashtu syncretized with the Hebrew “Lilith”. Interestingly, these demons are not found only among Jews. There is traces of these demons in many Near Eastern cultures, and it is even possible to find some examples in Zoroastrianism. Lilith attacks the Jews in exile, their present, their future, their families and their survival. Perhaps it was more of a danger, considering their children were growing up in a multicultural urban setting. Of Lilith whispered in the darkness of the taverns and as the wind whistled along the streets these tales have penetrated subtly into the psyche of the Jews. The stories told at the market entered their homes and were passed down in the context of their families. Surely, these figures were perceived as a danger to their lifestyle, their religious faith and family cohesion. Lilītu became Lilith, something that was feared and desired at the same time, in the most hidden places of the mind and soul. In the Luciferian perspective, Lamastu represents the predator that drains the life that takes the form of the spirit of the wind, showing himself with the head of a lion or leopard, chasing the winged prey in the darkness like Pazuzu or other small demons, which all possess the keys to developing our shadow body an essential element for astral projection used in Vampiric Magic: fascinating, full of power and undeniably not devoid of hidden dangers…

How can you create a magical union between notes and ancient myths?
(Michael) This is not difficult as I have had years of sharpening the skills required for this type of Black Magick. Sound with specific frequencies along with symbolic waves of sound create mental gateways via the imagination, thus is a form of magick itself.

This work is released on a CD; can we consider it a classic album or is the CD a useful tool for spreading your ritual?
(Michael) Digital, CD and LP eventually I suspect. These are good mediums.

Aren’t you afraid that the casual listener might approach “In Her Hands Fever & Frost” superficially, putting its philosophical-religious aspect in the background, if not ignoring?
(Michael) I don’t mind if a casual listener listens and enjoys the darkness of the music; I don’t expect too many to understand the ritualistic dedication we put into our works, so I just wish for them to enjoy it and may it bring nightmares!

In your opinion, what is the best condition to be able to approach “In Her Hands Fever & Frost” in the most appropriate way?
(Michael) A study of my book “Sebitti” is a good start, Babylonian Magick and Demonology. Then if one seeks the ancient and malignant spirit of Lamastu, she may be called by dream. 

Are you going to propose the CD also in live performances?
(Michael) Perhaps some live rituals in the future…
(Sara) I would really like. During the trip to Italy we hypothesized a live with Mortuary Drape, I would add who knows the Necromass and some other bands with which an Occult Fest could really be created. Would be great!

Michael, you recently published a book, “Hecate & The Black Arts: Liber Necromantia”, could you tell me about it?
(Michael) “Hecate & the Black Arts” is a grimoire which is dedicated to Hecate and the Gods, Goddesses and Demons of the Underworld, or Hades. This was a work in progress for a few years and I have worked with Hecate since the late 1990’s. This grimoire is a crowning achievement of my experience with this specific gnosis. 

Micheal, I noticed on your social networks some photos taken in Italy, in particular in Bomarzo, did you like the Sacred Wood? And what is your relationship with my country in general?
