Abbiamo il piacere di presentare i Powercross, band di power metal che sta attirando le attenzioni su di sé sin dalla sua formazione nel dicembre 2022. Nell’album di debutto intitolato “The Lost Empire” (Elevate Records), I Powercross uniscono riff di heavy metal a armonie di chitarra melodica, mostrando con il loro suono la propria visione del futuro della musica metal.

Ciao Spiros, vuoi presentare Powercross ai nostri lettori?
I Powercross sono una band power metal nata nel dicembre 2022 ad Atene, fondata da me, Rizos Spiros, e Chris Stergiadis. Il nostro sound unisce riff heavy metal con armonie di chitarra. Dopo l’uscita di Chris Stergiadis per motivi personali, ho preso la guida della band. Il nostro primo album si intitola “The Lost Empire”, e mi sono occupato personalmente di tutta la composizione e orchestrazione.

Dopo l’uscita di Chris Stergiadis, hai considerato Powercross un tuo progetto solista o una vera band?
I Powercross sono una band vera e propria, nata con l’intento di esibirsi dal vivo. L’uscita di Chris non ha cambiato la nostra identità né la nostra missione.

Puoi presentarci gli altri membri della band?
Certo! Britsas John è il nostro cantante, Kaliviotis Vaggelis suona il basso e Pepinidis Stelios è il nostro batterista. Come dicevo, la composizione e l’orchestrazione sono curate interamente da me.

Come sono nate le canzoni del vostro album di debutto, “The Lost Empire”?
L’album contiene otto tracce, molte delle quali hanno già attirato l’attenzione del pubblico, il che ci rende molto ottimisti. I brani affrontano temi metafisici ma anche importanti questioni sociali.

Il vostro sound è definito power metal, ma ho notato alcune influenze dei Black Sabbath. Ad esempio, in “Circle of Fire” ho sentito richiami a “Neon Knights”. Quali sono le vostre influenze?
Non neghiamo affatto le nostre influenze! Nei Powercross troverai il power metal delle band degli anni ’80 mescolato con molti riff heavy metal dal sapore autentico. Non ci ispiriamo a un solo gruppo, ma a tutti quegli artisti che hanno contribuito a creare e definire il metal.

La traccia di apertura è stata scelta come singolo e videoclip. È la canzone più rappresentativa dell’album?
È una delle nostre tracce preferite. L’abbiamo scelta per aprire l’album perché è facilmente accessibile anche a chi si avvicina per la prima volta al mondo magico del metal.

A me è piaciuta molto la title track, “The Lost Empire”. Cosa ne pensi di questo pezzo?
“The Lost Empire” è il brano che meglio rappresenta l’album. È l’essenza della nostra combinazione di power e heavy metal.

L’album è un concept? E nella copertina sono raffigurate le rovine del Partenone?
No, “The Lost Empire” non è un concept album. La copertina raffigura Atlantide perduta e non ha nulla a che fare con il Partenone. Il Partenone è un tempio dedicato alla dea Atena, protettrice di Atene.

State suonando dal vivo in questo periodo?

Hi Spiros, would you like to introduce Powercross to our readers?
Powercross is a power metal band formed in December 2022 in Athens by me, Rizos Spiros, and Chris Stergiadis. Our sound combines heavy metal riffs with melodic guitar harmonies. After Chris Stergiadis left for personal reasons, I took over the leadership of the band. Our first album is titled “The Lost Empire,” and I personally handled all the composition and orchestration.

After Chris Stergiadis left the band, did you consider Powercross as your solo project or a real band?
Powercross is a real band, created with the purpose of performing live. Chris’s departure did not change our identity or mission.

Would you like to introduce the other band members?
Of course! Britsas John is our vocalist, Kaliviotis Vaggelis plays bass, and Pepinidis Stelios is our drummer. As I mentioned, I personally handle all the composition and orchestration.

How were the songs in your debut album, “The Lost Empire,” created?
The album contains eight tracks, many of which have already gained attention, which makes us very optimistic. The songs explore metaphysical themes as well as significant social issues.

Your sound is described as power metal, but I noticed some Black Sabbath influences. For example, in “Circle of Fire,” I heard echoes of “Neon Knights.” What are your influences?
We don’t deny our musical influences! In Powercross, you’ll find power metal elements from ’80s bands combined with authentic heavy metal riffs. We are not influenced by just one band, but by many artists who helped shape and define what we call metal today.

The opening track was chosen as a single and music video. Do you think it is the most representative song of the album?
It’s one of our favorite tracks. We chose it to open the album because it is more accessible to people who are just entering the magical world of metal music.

I really like the title track, “The Lost Empire.” What do you think about this song?
“The Lost Empire” is the song that best represents the debut album. It perfectly blends power and heavy metal.

Is the album a concept? And are those the ruins of the Parthenon on the cover?
No, “The Lost Empire” is not a concept album. The artwork represents the lost city of Atlantis and has nothing to do with the Parthenon. The Parthenon is a temple built in honor of the goddess Athena, the patroness of Athens.

Is the band performing live these days?
Our first live gig took place in Athens and was very successful. We are now slowly preparing for more live shows. You can stay updated on our live performances through our official page!
