Benvenuto Håkan, la Hammerheart Records ha presentato il vostro nuovo album in questo modo: “I “Necrotic Lust” si sono fatti avanti per realizzare l’album mai realizzato dai Carcass dopo “Necroticism – Descanting the Insalubrious”. Sei d’accordo?
Lascio decidere agli altri, per così dire, ma sì, più o meno. Posso dire che sono stato molto ispirato da quell’album, alcuni riff possono suonare molto come quelli contenuti in quel disco e altri no. L’ispirazione può prendere molte direzioni diverse. Non importa quali, sono molto soddisfatto di questo album!
Come è nata la tua collaborazione con Jeff Walker?
Com’è avvenuta la nostra collaborazione? Quando ho scritto il primo album, ho pensato che sarebbe stato fantastico avere Jeff che cantava qualcosa in una nostra canzone. L’idea non si è realizzata, ma per “Necrotic Lust” ero fortemente determinato a rintracciarlo e chiederglielo. Ha offerto la sua disponibilità per un’intera canzone ed è andata alla grande. Uno dei miei pezzi preferiti dell’album!
Ti piace lavorare con ospiti o altri compagni di band e perché hai deciso di creare una one-man band?
Sì assolutamente, lo trovo piuttosto eccitante e iodico sempre: “Bisogna fare ciò che si sa fare!”. Che sia voce, batteria, assoli di chitarra ecc… in qualsiasi modo possibile. Questo è il modo in cui diventa tutto più interessante e migliore.
Quali sono le sfide più grandi nell’essere soli in una band?
In realtà non trovo una grande sfida essere solo, anche se poi non sono proprio solo, c’è Jon con me. Naturalmente ci possono essere difficoltà nell’essere soli o in pochi. Se non riesci a gestire tutti gli strumenti necessari, devi trovare musicisti per quelle parti. Fortunatamente non ho avuto molti problemi da questo punto di vista.
Qual è stato il contributo di Jon Skäre al disco?
Il suo contributo sono state le eccellenti parti di batteria!
Qual è il tuo brano preferito di “Necrotic Lust” e perché?
Ovviamente, “Ground Into Ash And Coal”, quella canzone parla da sé dato che Jeff ci canta e credo che più in generale la canzone abbia una bella atmosfera. Oltre a quella, “Offspring Inhuman Conceived” è una delle mie preferite. Contiene praticamente tutti gli elementi dell’album, almeno per le mie orecchie.
Che mi dici, invece, delle tre bonustrack incluse nell’edizione digipak?
Abbiamo deciso di fare un album di nove tracce, ma ne sono state registrate 12, quindi la Hammerheard ha proposto di pubblicare un CD in edizione limitata con tre bonus. È stato difficile scegliere le canzoni, ma penso che non sarebbero potuto essere migliori.
Hai intenzione di coinvolgere altri membri per andare in tour?
Forse non per un vero tour, ma i festival sarebbero carini. Sto lavorando su questo aspetto. Jon e Ludvig sono già della partita. Ludvig che ha avuto il compito di suonare gli assoli di chitarra. È anche un compagno di band di Jon nella thrash band Defiatory. Chi ci sarà dietro il microfono? Io o qualcun altro che troveremo. Finora non ho maturato proprimente il talento di cantare e suonare la chitarra contemporaneamente. Vedremo come andrà a finire e non importa come, ma sarà sicuramente tutto buono!

Welcome Håkan, Hammerheart Records introduce your newalbum in this way: ““Necrotic Lust” have stepped up to make the album Carcass never made after “Necroticism – Descanting the Insalubrious”. Are you agree?
It’s in the eye of the beholder so to speak but yeah, more or less. I’d can say I’m very inspired by that album, some riffs may sound a lot like it and som doesn’t. Inspiration can take many different turns. No matter what I am very satisfied with this album!
How is born your collaboration with Jeff Walker?
How the collaboration happened? I had a little thought when I had written the first album that it’d be awesome to have Jeff sing a few words on some song. The idea didn’t come further than that but on “Necrotic Lust” I was fully determined to find him and ask him. He was down for doing a whole song and it turned out great. A favourite on the album!
Do you like to work with guests or other bandmates and why did you decide to create a one-man band?
Yeah absolutely, I find it quite exciting and I always say: “Do your thing!”. Vocals, drums, guitar solos etc… on whatever the material might be. That’s when it gets most interesting and best.
What are the biggest challenges in being alone in a band?
Actually I don’t see much of a challenge being alone though I am not alone. Jon is with me. OF course there can be challenges being alone or very few. If you cant handle all the necessary instruments you have to find musicians for those parts. Luckily I haven’t had much problem with that.
What was Jon Skäre’s contribution to the record?
His contribution is the super excellent drumming!
What is your favourite track from “Necrotic Lust” and why?
Of course “Ground Into Ash And Coal”, that song speaks for itself since Jeff is singing on it and I think the song in general has a nice atmosphere. Beside that song “Offspring Inhuman Conceived” is a favorite. It has basically all elements heard on the album, at least in my ears.
What’s about the three bonustracks included int the digipak edition?
We decided to do a nine track album but 12 songs were recorded so Hammerheard proposed we’d do a limited CD with three bonus songs. It was hard to pick the songs for each release but I think couldn’t have been better.
Are you planning to bring in other members to go on tour?
Maybe not tour specifically but festivals would be nice. I am working on the matter. Jon and Ludvig is already doen for it. Ludvig who got the mission to play guitar solos. He’s as well a band mate to Jon in their thrash band Defiatory. Who’ll be behind the mic, me or someone else we will see. This far I haven’t discovered the talant to sing and play guitar simultaneously. We will see how it turns out and no matter what it will be good!
