I Forbidden Omen sono una band metal polacca che si è formata alla fine del 2016 a Cracovia. Questi ragazzi hanno definiscono il loro sound “slavic death metal” e hanno pubblicato il loro album di debutto “Ancestral Rituals” (Szataniec \ Solid Rock Pr) lo scorso novembre.

Benvenuti ragazzi, potreste presentare la vostra band ai nostri lettori?
Siamo i Forbidden Omen, una slavic death metal band proveniente da Cracovia, Polonia. Abbiamo iniziato alla fine del 2016 con la partecipazione all’Emergenza Festival dove abbiamo raggiunto le semifinali. La band è stata riattivata nel 2019. Abbiamo suonato con Kat & Roman Kostrzewski e abbiamo partecipato al tour “Bratnia Krew” con i Velesar.

Descrivete la vostra musica come “Slavic Death Metal”: potreste definirne i contenuti?Krzysztof: È un miscuglio tre le nostre credenze ancestrali e la musica death metal aggressiva prodotta coi nostri strumenti.
Piotr: Il cuore della nostra musica è il death metal, ricco di energia slava e i nostri testi sono ispirati alla mitologia slava.

Date un significato politico a questa descrizione o è semplicemente un omaggio alle vostre origini?
Krzysztof: Niente politica. Disprezziamo ogni tipo di merda politica.
Jarosław: Abbiamo deciso di fare questo tipo di musica perché ci sono molti generi nordici ma la variante slava è ancora un territorio inesplorato, ci aiuta anche ad attirare persone interessate alla nostra cultura ormai quasi dimenticata.
Piotr: Non ci interessano la politica o le religioni. È un tributo alle nostre origini, alla nostra cultura e alla nostra mitologia dimenticate.

La Polonia è rinomata per la sua scena blackned death metal, ma il vostro sound è rigorosamente death metal. Perché avete scelto di non concentrarvi sul sound che più caratterizza le band polacche oggi?
Krzysztof: Perché dovremmo seguire le mode? La nostra musica descrive la nostra individualità e il nostro atteggiamento nei confronti del mondo: abbiamo scelto il death metal come nostro modo di esprimerci, ma questa è solo un’etichetta. Nella nostra musica puoi ascoltare riff thrash, riff heavy, influenze power metal e tutte le altre sfumature del metal. Ascolta le nostre canzoni con attenzione.
Jarosław: Penso che sia meglio trovare un nostro stile e concentrarci sul come migliorarlo così un giorno le persone riconosceranno il sound dei Forbidden Omen.
Piotr: Stiamo creando il nostro stile musicale con melodia e riff potenti. Non vogliamo essere “un’altra band come…”.

Potreste presentarci il vostro album di debutto, “Ancestral Rituals”?
Jarosław: Il nostro primo album, “Ancestral Rituals”, parla di guerrieri coraggiosi, miti (Re Ashen), tributo agli antichi dei (Svarog, Veles) e alle grandi band.
Piotr: “Ancestral Rituals” è un’introduzione al mondo slavo. Contiene informazioni su divinità slave, guerrieri e leggende con una colonna sonora di musica brutale.

Quali obiettivi vorreste raggiungere con questo album?
Krzysztof: Raccogliere quanti più ascoltatori possibile e suonare il più possibile – in festival, concerti e su palchi diversi.
Jarosław: Suonare il più possibile, mangiare insieme durante il viaggio, vivere grandi avventure e semplicemente goderci la vita di band con persone che urlano per noi (ma non per quello che sembriamo!).

Che mi dite della fantastica copertina?
Krzysztof: L’autore è DK13Design – un ragazzo con incredibili capacità di disegno e buoni spunti quando si tratta di demoni, maghi, bestie e vergini!

Avete realizzato in collaborazione con la Szataniec Records il vostro album di debutto, siete soddisfatti del lavoro svolto dalla vostra etichetta?
Non possiamo rispondere a questa domanda in questo momento poiché non è passato molto tempo, ma probabilmente sì.

Promuoverete sul palco il nuovo album?
Krzysztof: Sì.
Piotr: Sì.
Jarosław: No, faremo molto di più. Suoneremo con i nostri cuori ardenti per una folla incredibile sotto il palco, per questo spero che non perderai l’occasione di vederci dal vivo.

Forbidden Omen is a Polish metal band which was established at the end of 2016 in Krakow. This guys definied their sound “slavic death metal” and released their debut album “Ancestral Rituals” (Szataniec \ Solid Rock Pr) last november.

Welcome guys, could you introduce your band to our readers?
We are Forbidden Omen – slavic death metal band from Krakow, Poland. We started at the end of 2016 with the Emergenza Festival where we reached the semi-finals. Band was reactivated in 2019. We played with “Kat & Roman Kostrzewski” and participated in the “Bratnia Krew” tour with the “Velesar” band.

You describe your music as “Slavic Death Metal”: could you define “Slavic Death Metal”? Krzysztof: It is a mixture made of our ancestral beliefs with aggressive death metal music made with a little help of our instruments.
Piotr:  Core of our music is death metal with Slavic energy and our lyrics are inspired by Slavic mythology.

Do you give a political meaning to this description or is just a tribute to your origin?
Krzysztof: No politics involved. We despise every type of political shit.
Jarosław: We decided to do this kind of music because there is a lot more nordic kinds but slavic is still new, it also helps us to gather people interested in our old, almost forgotten culture.
Piotr: We don’t care about politics or religions. It’s a tribute to our origins and our forgotten culture and mythology.

Poland is renowned for its blackened death metal  scene globally, but your sound is strictly death metal. Why did you choose not to focus on the sound that most characterizes Polish bands today?
Krzysztof: Why should we go with the flow? Our music describes our individuality and our attitude to the world – we choose death metal as our way of expression but this is just a label. In our music you can hear thrash riffs, heavy riffs, power metal licks and all other metal gener stuff. Just listen to our songs carefully.
Jarosław: I think it’s better to find our own style and focus on improving it so one day people will know how Forbidden Omen sounds like.
Piotr: We are creating our own music style with melody and powerful riffs. We don’t want to be “another band like…”.

Could you introduce your debut  album, “Ancestral Rituals”?
Jarosław: Our first album, “Ancestral Rituals”, is about brave warriors, myths (Ashen King), tribute to old gods (Svarog, Veles) and fellowship of a great band.
Piotr: “Ancestral Rituals” is an introduction to Slavic world.  It contains information about Slavic gods, warriors and legends with brutal music.

What goals would you like to achieve with this album?
Krzysztof: Gather as many listeners as we can and play as much as possible – on festivals, different gigs and on different stages.
Jarosław: Play as much as we can, eat together during road trip, have great adventures and simply enjoy the life of a band with people screaming for us (but not because of how we look like!).

What’s about the amazing cover artwork?
Krzysztof: The guy responsible for the artwork is DK13Design – this guy has amazing drawing skills and good feelings when it comes to demons, wizards, beasts and virgins.

You realized in cooperation with Szataniec Records your debut album, are you satisfied with the work done by your label?
Can’t answer this question right now since not much time has passed but probably yes.

Will you promote on stage the new album?
Krzysztof: Yes.
Piotr: Yes.
