Dall’8 maggio è disponibile in formato vinile 7” lo split album “Zolle / Pantalon”, pubblicato da Overdub Recordings in edizione limitata e numerata, con uscita digitale prevista per il 29 maggio 2026. Lo split nasce dall’incontro tra Zolle e Pantalon, due realtà accomunate da un approccio diretto, istintivo e privo di sovrastrutture, in cui energia, tensione e scrittura essenziale si fondono in un linguaggio sonoro condiviso ma dalle diverse traiettorie espressive. Abbiamo contattato entrambe le band per una split interview, ponendo loro le stesse cinque domande per entrare nel cuore di questo dialogo tra hard rock non convenzionale e musica istantanea.

Benvenuti su Il Raglio Del Mulo, cosa ne pensate degli split album?
Ciao, benvenuti a voi nel nostro mondo! Per noi è una novità! Non che non conoscessimo gli split album (abbiamo una certa età!), ma perché è il primo in cui siamo coinvolti come Zolle!
Vi andrebbe di fare una mini recensione dei vostri brani presenti sullo split?
Mah, guarda, “Ballata Di Fieno” si discosta un po’ dalle nostre sonorità più recenti anche se, effettivamente, è stata composta insieme alle nostre sonorità più recenti. Fino all’ultimo secondo eravamo indecisi se includerla in “Rosa” (il nostro ultimo album vero e proprio), ma le è poi stato soffiato il posto da “Toffolette” e “Zuccherini”. Dobbiamo dire che siamo contenti della scelta, infatti all’interno del disco sarebbe sembrata una zolla fuor di terra, ma ora ha acquistato una nuova vita, tutta sua!
Ora, vi chiederei di recensire i pezzi dell’altra band…
Allora: “Poullame Team Building” è un brano sospeso tra il domani e il dopodomani. “Letamgram” sembra un tizio che continua a toccarti la spalla per chiederti qualcosa, ma poi non lo chiede mai, anzi, ti dà una risposta. Senza fare domande. “Late Night Skateboarding” assomiglia a un incontro tra due tizi deformi e dall’aspetto strano che non si capiscono mai e che si urlano nel naso. In questo modo le vibrazioni, passando da inediti orifizi, assumono un nuovo significato.
Cosa pensate dell’altra band e c’è un pezzo del loro repertorio che vorreste rifare?
Non saremmo assolutamente in grado di fare nemmeno 3 note in fila dei Pantalon, soprattutto se fatte come i Pantalon. Meno male che per fare i Pantalon, ci sono i Pantalon! A primo ascolto sono un po’ bizzarri, a volte tragicomici, surreali, arzigogolati e pieni di ghirigori. Sono gli orpelli più belli che abbiamo mai ascoltato. D’ora in poi li chiameremo Orbelli!
Quali sono i vostri piani futuri?
Al momento siamo chiusi in un pentolone che ribolle, stiamo aggiungendo ingredienti, a fuoco lento, continuiamo a mescolare, ogni tanto assaggiamo, il sapore è decisamente interessante, stiamo cercando una spezia speziale per alzare poi un pochino la fiamma. Qualcuno ha fretta?
Side B – Pantalon
Benvenuti su Il Raglio del Mulo, cosa ne pensate degli split album?
Ciao, se l’hanno fatto i Fantomas e i Melvins, tra gli altri, direi che ci possiamo accostare con deferenza. Noi e Zolle abbiamo una bizzarra trama musicale in comune, la diversità di linguaggio è la chiave. Stesso concetto descritto da punti di vista diversi. Sul concetto lascio a voi la scelta.
Vi andrebbe di fare una mini recensione dei vostri brani presenti sullo split?
Certamente: musica istantanea, vibrante. Puoi fruire di ogni brano singolo come la puntura di un’ape che poi ci resta secca, oppure ascoltarli tutti e tre di fila e sentire il sapore sapido dell’irrisolto. Le questioni tecniche le lascio a Luzzatto Fegiz.
Ora, vi chiederei di recensire i pezzi dell’altra band…
Beh, gli Zolle sono poderosi, il loro brano è una stramaledetta ballata. L’ho sentita giusto ieri suonata dal vivo, una macina.
Cosa pensate dell’altra band e c’è un pezzo del loro repertorio che vorreste rifare?
Gli Zolle dovreste sentirli dal vivo e io non dovrei aggiungere nulla: la loro è una festa, un rito tribale sanguinario mescolato a una sagra di paese con del Lambrusco buonissimo.
Quali sono i vostri piani futuri?
Suonare, suonare e suonare. Stiamo componendo musica nuova ma adesso è l’ora della grande battaglia.
Since May 8, the 7” vinyl split album “Zolle / Pantalon” has been available, released by Overdub Recordings in a limited and numbered edition, with a digital release scheduled for May 29, 2026. The split comes from the meeting between Zolle and Pantalon, two acts united by a direct, instinctive approach free from superstructures, where energy, tension, and essential songwriting merge into a shared sonic language, while following different expressive paths. We reached out to both bands for a split interview, asking them the same five questions to dive into the heart of this dialogue between unconventional hard rock and instant music.
Side A – Zolle
Welcome To Il Raglio Del Mulo, what do you think about split albums?
Hey, welcome to our world! For us, it’s something new! It’s not like we didn’t know what split albums were (we’re not exactly kids anymore!), but this is the first one we’ve been involved in as Zolle!
Would you like to give us a mini review of your tracks featured on the split?
Well, look, “Ballata Di Fieno” drifts a bit away from our more recent sound, even though, technically speaking, it was written alongside our more recent material. Up until the very last second we were undecided about including it on “Rosa” (our latest proper album), but in the end it got pushed aside by “Toffolette” and “Zuccherini”. We’ve got to say we’re happy with that choice because, inside the album, it would’ve felt like a clump of dirt out of place, while now it’s gained a whole new life of its own!
Now we’d ask you to review the other band’s songs…
Alright then: “Poullame Team Building” is a song hanging somewhere between tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. “Letamgram” feels like a guy constantly tapping you on the shoulder because he wants to ask you something, but then he never actually asks. Instead, he gives you an answer. Without even asking a question. “Late Night Skateboarding” sounds like a meeting between two weird-looking deformed dudes who never understand each other and keep screaming straight into each other’s noses. This way, vibrations passing through previously unknown orifices end up taking on a whole new meaning.
What do you think about the other band, and is there a song from their catalog you’d like to remake?
We absolutely wouldn’t be able to play even three notes in a row like Pantalon do, especially if they had to sound like Pantalon. Good thing that, when it comes to being Pantalon, there’s already Pantalon! At first listen they sound kind of bizarre, sometimes tragicomic, surreal, overcomplicated and packed with twists and curls. They’re the finest ornaments we’ve ever heard. From now on, we’ll call them Orbelli!
What are your future plans?
Right now we’re locked inside a boiling cauldron, adding ingredients, slowly simmering, constantly stirring, tasting it every now and then — and the flavor is definitely getting interesting. We’re looking for a special spice to crank the flame up just a little bit more. Is anybody in a hurry?
Side B – Pantalon
Welcome To Il Raglio Del Mulo, what do you think about split albums?
Hi, if Fantomas and Melvins have done it, among others, I’d say we can approach it with respect. We and Zolle share a strange musical thread in common, and the diversity of language is the key. Same concept described from different points of view. I’ll leave the interpretation of the concept to you.
Would you like to give us a mini review of your tracks featured on the split?
Absolutely: instant, vibrating music. You can enjoy each track as a single one, like a bee sting that then dies right there, or you can listen to all three in a row and feel the salty taste of the unresolved. I’ll leave the technical matters to Luzzatto Fegiz.
Now we’d ask you to review the other band’s songs…
Well, Zolle are powerful, their track is a damn ballad. I heard it live just yesterday, it’s a steamroller.
What do you think about the other band, and is there a song from their catalog you’d like to remake?
You really should see Zolle live and I shouldn’t add anything: theirs is a party, a bloody tribal ritual mixed with a village fair with some really good Lambrusco.
What are your future plans?
Playing, playing and playing. We’re composing new music, but right now it’s time for the great battle.
