Benvenuto Nick, dopo sei anni è arrivato il vostro nuovo album, “Vespers”. Il disco è nato durante il lockdown? E in che modo questi strani giorni hanno influenzato la vostra musica?
Ciao! Ebbene, “Vespers” non è un frutto del lockdown. Il suo processo è iniziato alcuni anni fa. A causa di alcune difficoltà che abbiamo dovuto affrontare (due batteristi cambiati) abbiamo avuto gravi ritardi che ci hanno lasciato indietro. Lo avevamo terminato l’anno scorso, ma il blocco ha ritardato di nuovo il rilascio. Quindi, quegli strani giorni non hanno avuto alcun effetto su questo album, ma li avranno sul prossimo (speriamo).
Puoi descrivere la tua musica?
La nostra musica può essere descritta come doom / death metal con alcuni passaggi funeral. Se non vogliamo usare tutte queste etichette, possiamo dire che suoniamo semplicemente musica proveniente dalla nostra anima.
Cinque canzoni sopra i dieci minuti, perché preferite esprimervi in questo modo?
Non abbiamo questo in mente quando iniziamo a comporre una canzone. Ma troviamo una sfida stimolante creare pezzi lunghi e mantenerli interessanti prima per noi stessi e poi per il nostro pubblico.
“Συριγμός” è solo un titolo in greco, cosa significa veramente?
Beh, significa “sibilo”. È un suono assurdo e sibilante che può essere creato dai polmoni o persino dalle bombe che cadono.
Sei ispirato dall’antica cultura greca per la tua musica?
Posso affermare che la cultura greca antica è una grande ispirazione per qualsiasi tipo di musica, così come per la nostra. Non si vede chiaramente nelle nostre canzoni, ma da lì provengono molti pensieri e parole.
Il vespro è la preghiera della sera, perché avete questo titolo per l’album?
Tutto l’album è un viaggio oscuro attraverso la piaga della guerra e volevamo anche un titolo che significasse qualcosa di oscuro. Ecco il perchè!
Quando è nata la tua passione per il doom?
La nostra passione per questo genere è nata molti anni fa quando abbiamo ascoltato per la prima volta i Black Sabbath. Questo è stato l’inizio. Poi, siamo stati rapiti dalla scena britannica doom / death(Anathema, Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride) e non ce ne siamo mai liberati.
Come cambia, se cambia, il tuo suono sul palco?
Essenzialmente, vogliamo avere un suono simile a quello del CDquando siamo sul palco. Ma a volte, penso che i suoni siano più pesanti e questo è solo un bene!
Il tuo ultimo concerto?
La nostra ultima esibizione dal vivo è stata nell’ottobre 2019 qui ad Atene, quando abbiamo suonato al Room of Doom Fest II insieme a Clouds, Inner Missing, Soul Dissolution e Selefice.

Per il momento, le nostre uniche mosse hanno a che fare con la promozione del nuovo album attraverso il web. Quando tutta questa follia sarà passata, speriamo di poter tornare sul palco.

Welcome Nick , after six years your new album, “Vespers” is here. Is the album born during the lockdown? And how did these strange days influence your music?
Hello! Well, “Vespers” isn’t a product of the lockdown. Its process begun some years ago. Due to some difficulties we faced (two drummers changed) we had serious delays which took us back. We had it finished last year, but the lockdown delayed again the release. So, those strange days didn’t had an effect on this album, but they will in the next one (we hope).
Could you describe your music?
Our music can be described as doom / death metal with some funeral passings. If we don’t want to use all those words we can say that we play just music coming from our souls.
Five songs over the ten minutes, why do you prefer this way to express?
We don’t have this on our minds when we start to compose a song. But, we find it challenging to create so long pieces and keep them interesting first to ourselves and then to our audience.
“Συριγμός” is the only title in Greek, what does really means?
Well, it means “sibilation”. It’s this freaking and hissing sound that can be created from lungs or even falling bombs.
Are you inspired by ancient Greek culture for your music?
I can say that ancient Greek culture is a great inspiration for any music, so does for ours. It isn’t seen clear in our songs but many thoughts and words have been taken from there.
Vesper is an evening prayer, why this title for your album?
All the album is a dark journey through the sickness of war and we wanted the title to mean something dark also. So, here we are!
When is born your passion for doom?
Our passion for this genre was born many years before when we first listened to Black Sabbath. That was the start. Then, we got into the british doom / death scene (Anathema, Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride) and we’ve never left.
How does change, if change, your sound on stage?
First of all, we want to have a similar sound as the cd when we are onstage. But sometimes, I think the sounds is heavier and this is only good!
Your last gig?
Our last live perfomance was in October 2019 here in Athens when we played at the Room of Doom Fest II along with Clouds, Inner Missing, Soul Dissolution and Selefice.
Your next moves?
For the time, our only moves have to do with the promotion of the new album through the web. When all this madness passes, we hope that we can be back on stage.
