La scorsa settimana abbiamo parlato con Akos e Hajer degli Omega Tribe del loro ultimo album “Metanoia” (Metal Scrap Records) e del futuro della band ungherese.
Ciao ragazzi, come va in questi strani giorni di emergenza pandemica?
Akos: Ciao! Fortunatamente stiamo bene, grazie per la tua domanda. Abbiamo tutti avuto un po’ di raffreddore, raffreddore, ma non eravamo positivi al covid. Abbiamo quasi finito con il nostro tour autunnale – Liberating Madness. Quindi siamo davvero felici di poter suonare di nuovo dal vivo in tutta Europa. Siamo stati fortunati, in quanto ho visto al telegiornale che le nazioni stanno chiudendo di nuovo.
Vi siete sei esibiti dal vivo dopo l’uscita di “Metanoia”?
Hajer: Oh sì, abbiamo suonato il più possibile. Dopo la data di uscita ufficiale di “Metanoia” dovevamo stare in tournée per 18 spettacoli, ma ne abbiamo fatti solo 11 perché dobbiamo rimandare 7 spettacoli a causa della situazione pandemia. Dovevamo riprogrammare alcuni dei nostri spettacoli in Belgio, Svizzera e Germania, cosa che fortunatamente abbiamo fatto quest’anno con il Liberating Madness Tour. Gli spettacoli sono stati un vero spasso e non possiamo essere più felici con la nostra nuova booking agency! Ora vediamo il futuro cosa ci riserva.
A distanza di un anno dall’uscita, come va “Metanoia”?
Hajer: Sembra qausi che l’abbiamo pubblicato quest’anno, ahah… “Metanoia” ha ancora così tante attenzioni sui media, stiamo ancora ricevendo ottime recensioni del disco e facendo molte interviste. “Metanoia” è il nostro disco di maggior successo finora!
Pensate che “Metanoia” sia il vostro miglior album?
Akos: Secondo me sì. Abbiamo apportato alcune modifiche al nostro iter di lavoro e abbiamo anche introdotto nuove influenze nella musica che non avevamo prima. Questo disco racchiude alcune sorprese per il pubblico rispetto alle nostre cose precedenti. Alcuni elementi inaspettati che non avevano mai sentito prima da noi.
Durante il lockdown vi siete invece concentrato sulla scrittura e la registrazione del vostro prossimo album, il successore di “Metanoia” del 2020?
Hajer: Abbiamo alcune nuove canzoni in lavorazione, ma non ci stiamo concentrando sullo scrivere musica come priorità. Questo periodo di pandemia è piuttosto impegnativa per noi, poiché abbiamo realizzato nuovi video musicali, live streaming e ogni genere di cose che mantengono viva la band anche nel mondo online! Oltre agli spettacoli dal vivo, stiamo raggiungendo nuovi fan e territori via Internet, è davvero una cosa fottutamente 2021!
Ma non è improbabile che pubblicheremo un nuovo singolo nel 2022… così per dire (ride).
Vi piacerebbe lavorare di nuovo con Jens Bogren nel prossimo album?
Akos: Non è certo. Amiamo la varietà in questo campo, provare cose nuove, nuove possibilità. Molto dipenderà dal feeling delle nuove canzoni. Sceglieremo colui che meglio si adatta alle nostre idee, da ciò che vogliamo ottenere per il nostro suono.
Il nuovo album uscirà per Metal Scrap Records?
Akos: Siamo davvero contenti della Metal Scrap Records. Ci piace lavorare con loro, quindi forse continueremo la collaborazione. Ma siamo anche aperti a nuove possibilità se la vita vorrà. Ci sentiamo pronti per una major (ride).
Quali obiettivi vorresti raggiungere con il prossimo album?
Akos: Penso che ne abbiamo altri da raggiungere con ancora con “Metanoia”, vorremmo fare più tour con queste canzoni in Europa l’anno prossimo. Quindi non abbiamo ancora fretta per il prossimo disco. Abbiamo in programma di rilasciare una nuova canzone nel 2022 con un video musicale eccezionale. E vedremo cosa c’è dopo.
Quali sono stati i momenti salienti della carriera degli Omega Diatribe finora?
Akos: Devo dire che ogni disco degli Omega Diatribe è stato un momento clou per noi. Ognuno di loro ha aperto nuove possibilità per la band.
Last week had a chat with Akos and Hajer from Omega Tribe about their last album “Metanoia” (Metal Scrap Records) and the future of the hungarian band.
Hi, how are you in these strange days of pandemic emergency?
Akos: Hi there! Fortunately we are fine, thanks for your question. We all have been through some cold, snuffle, but we weren’t positive for covid. We are almost done with our autumn – Liberating Madness Tour. So we are really happy to be able to play live across Europe again. We were lucky since I saw in the news that countries are closing again.
Did you perform live after the release of “Metanoia”?
Hajer: Oh yes, we played as much as we could. After the official release date of “Metanoia” we go on tour with 18 shows, but we only did 11 because we have to postpone 7 shows due to the pandemic situation. We have to reschedule some of our shows in Belgium, Switzerland and Germany what we luckily did this year on Liberating Madness Tour. The shows was a blast and we cannot be more happier with our new booking agency! Looking forward to the future what it holds for us.
After one year from the release, how’s “Metanoia” going?
Hajer: It seems like we released it this year, haha… “Metanoia” still got so much attention on the media, we still receiving awesome reviews of the record and doing a lot of interview sessions with it. “Metanoia” is our most successful record so far!
Do you think “Metanoia” is your best album?
Akos: In my opinion yes. We made some changes in our workflow and also let new influences into the music we’ve never done before. This record includes some surprises for the audience compared to earlier releases. Some unexpected elements you’ve never heard from us before.
During the pandemic lockdown did you instead focus on writing and recording your next studio album and follow-up to 2020’s offering “Metanoia”?
Hajer: We have some new songs on the process but we’re not focusing on writing music as a priority. This pandemic situation is quite busy for us, because we did new music videos, live streams and all kind of things what keeps the band alive in the online worlds as well! Beside of the live shows we focusing reaches new fans & territories via the internet, it’s really a thing in 2021! But it’s not impossible to release a new single in 2022… just saying (laughing).
Would you like to work again with Jens Bogren on the next album?
Akos: It’s not at all certain. We love variety in this field, trying new things, new possibilities. A lot will depend on the feeling of the new songs. We will choose the one that best fits our ideas, what we want to achieve with the sound.
The new album will be released by Metal Scrap Records?
Akos: We are really happy with Metal Scrap Records. Love to work with them, so possibly we will continue the cooperation. But also we are open to new possibilities if life brings it that way. We feel ready for a major label (laughing).
What goals would you like to achieve with the next album?
Akos: I think we have some more in Metanoia, we’d like to tour more with these songs in Europe next year. So we are not in a hurry with the next record yet. We plan to release a brand new song in 2022 with a kickass music video. And we will see what’s next.
What have been some of the highlights of your time with Omega Diatribe so far?
Akos: I must say every Omega Diatribe record was a highlight for us. Each of them opened up new possibilities for the band.
