Fondati nel febbraio 2019, i Sign of Death sono una nuova band thrash metal tedesca. Nell’ottobre 2021 il gruppo è entrato in studio per registrare il suo primo EP di cinque canzoni, “Revival” (Solid Rock Pr).
Benvenuti, potreste presentare la vostra band ai nostri lettori?
Puggy: Batteria (gruppi preferiti:Trivium, Alter Bridge, Gojira, As I Lay Dying).
Jannis: Chitarra (band preferite: Slayer, Kreator, Exodus, Death e molti altri…).
Oskar: Chitarra, voce (gruppi preferiti: Kreator, Testament, Exodus, Death, Death Angel).
Klaus: Basso (musicisti preferiti: Phil Rudd, Steve Harris, Cliff Burton, Malcom Young, Scott Rockenfield, Steve Di Giorgio, Louis Johnson).
Come definireste il vostro suono?
Fondamentalmente, è thrash metal che a causa del suo stile di canto, suona un po’ come death metal. La band è anche influenzata da realtà americane come Slayer, Testament, Exodus e tedesche come Destruction, Kreator, Sodom, ecc.
Ora che “Revival”, il vostro EP di debutto, è uscito qual è il vostro obiettivo?
Raggiungere più persone possibile. Per promuovere i Sign sulla scena metal. Avere il riconoscimento del nostro impegno da parte del pubblico e poter fare un sacco di concerti, sarebbe il nostro più grande successo.
“Revival” è uscito come pubblicazione indipendente, è stata una vostra scelta o non avete trovato una buona etichetta?
In questo momento abbiamo deciso di rilasciare il “Revival” in modo indipendente per mostrare chi siamo, speriamo di avere presto proposte interessanti!
Quali sono le vostre canzoni preferite di “Revival”?
Klaus: “Hope and Dreams”, perché il riff ti taglia le palle.
Jannis: A me piacciono tutte le canzoni, perché ognuna ha il suo stile.
Oskar: Mi piacciono tutte le canzoni di “Revival”, perché nelle nostre song non c’è posto per i riff che non ci piacciono.
Puggy: Tutte le canzoni per me!
Perché avete incluso l’ultima traccia, “Lost”, come bonus?
Perché “Lost” è stato fatta prima che arrivassimo in studio. La canzone è stata registrata e mixata da Oskar e Jannis. Quindi suona un po’ diversa rispetto alle altre!
C’è un messaggio in particolare che sperate che gli ascoltatori traggano dalla tua musica?
Speriamo che gli “Heavy Metal Maniacs” là fuori impazziscano e si divertano ad ascoltare la musica dei “Sign of Death”. Divertiti e godetevi la nostra musica e la vostra vita. Speriamo di diventare una parte importante della vostra vita e, ultimo ma non meno importante, speriamo di vederci là fuori!
Avete già eseguito queste cinque canzoni sul palco?
Sfortunatamente no, a causa della situazione del Corona!
Se poteste collaborare con un altro artista chi sarebbe?
Klaus: Ce ne sono molti là fuori, alcuni di loro sono morti! Mike Howe, dei Metal Church, purtroppo, è morto l’anno scorso – ci manca così tanto! Kurd Vanderhof – Metal Church, Iron Maiden e tanti….
Oskar: Kreator, Testament, Overkill, Death Angel, Exodus e molte altre band thrash metal!
Jannis: Sono d’accordo con Oskar per questa domanda!
Puggy: Mi piacerebbe collaborare con molte band, come As I Lay Dying!
Set up in February 2019, Sign of Death is a new German thrash metal band. In October 2021 group came into the studio to record its first five songs EP, “Revival” (Solid Rock Pr).

How would you define your sound ?
Basically, it’s thrash metal, because of he singing style, it sounds a bit like death metal. The band is also influenced by US American bands like Slayer, Testament, Exodus and also German bands like Destruction, Kreator, Sodom etc.
“Revival”, your EP, is out which is your goal with this debut release??
Reach as many people as possible. To promote our own Sign on the metal music scene. The recognition of our effort by the public and the achievement of many good concerts will be our greatest success.
“Revival” is out as independent release your choose or didn’t find a good label?
At this time we decided to release the “Revival” independently to show who we are, we hope to have interesting proposals soon!
Which are your prefer songs from “Revival”?
Klaus: “Hope and Dreams” because the riff cuts off your balls.
Jannis: For me personally I like all the songs,because each one has its own style.
Oskar: I like all the songs from “Revival” because in our songs there is not place for riffs that we don’t like.
Puggy: All songs are good for me!
Why did you include the last track “Lost” as bonus?
Because “Lost” was done before we got in studio.The song was recorded and mixed by Oskar and Jannis. Therefore it sounds a bit different compared to the other songs!
Is there a particular message you hope listeners take from your music ?
Hopefully the “Heavy Metal Maniacs” out there go crazy and have fun listening to the music of Sign of Death. Have fun and enjoy our music and your life, hopefully we become a big part of your life, and last but not least we hope we will see ourselves out there!
Did you already perform these five songs onstage?
Unfortunately not because of Corona situation!
If you could collaborate with another artist who would it be?
Klaus: There a lot out there, a few of them have died! Mike Howe, of Metal Church, unfortunately, died last year – we miss him so much! Kurd Vanderhof, Metal Church, Iron Maiden and so many…
Oskar: Kreator, Testament, Overkill, Death Angel, Exodus, and many other thrash metal bands!
Jannis: I will agree with the Oskar on this question!
